Investigation of nanocrystalline sintered W-25 wt% Cu composite

W and Cu can be found in separate phases the W-Cu composites since these elements do not dissolve each other neither liquid nor solid phase, but with mechanical alloying it is possible to produce nonequilibrium alloys In this work nanostructured were produced by planetary ball milling. The powder was sintered on 900 °C 950 50 MPa pressure applied. meso- microstructure of samples, investigated SEM, TEM XRD. After h milling, size crystallites ~10 nm, about 10% solved matrix, producing a alloy layer surface nano crystallites. During sintering, atoms left from phases, so disappeared. – after 60 min sintering - around 170 relative density ~90% theoretical density. • developed during Due W(Cu) formation peak became asymmetric, had lower intensity its FWHM increased significantly. crystallite remained constant sintering.
